St Mary's Park, PrestwichPrestwich Carnival is one of the oldest carnivals in Manchester, established over 80 years ago. It gets bigger and better every year - last year attracting crowds of over 20,000. It is
organised by a committee of dedicated volunteers. It is not grant funded and has to raise funds and sponsorship to cover its costs. It provides a fun community event and raises funds for local
charities.Volunteering opportunities include:
Parade Marshall Required from 10.30am to 3pm
Line up and guide parade floats
Guide pedestrian participantsParade Street Collector Required from 11am to 3pm
Bucket collection on routeCar Park Supervisors Required from 11am to 6pm
Operate entrance/exit gate & collect fee
Supervise parking & ensure safety of car parkGate Stewards Required from 11am - 4pm
Sell programmes and bucket collections
Give information and directionsStewards Required from 7am to 6pm
Direct stall holders to pitch locations
Set up arenas & gazebos
Control traffic in the parkEvent Organisation Required from now onwards
All aspects of event managementESSENTIAL VOLUNTEER PROFILE
Work without supervision - work outdoors - stand/walk around for long periods of timeAll volunteers will receive a Prestwich Carnival tee-shirt and drink and those working over 4 hours will receive lunch. Volunteers are key to the success of the Carnival. You will be
