Macmillan Cancer Support Let’s be clear, get it checked!
Long Term Opportunity
The Macmillan Community Cancer Awareness programme is an exciting new project which aims to increase people's awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast, bowel and lung
cancer in Manchester, Salford and Tameside and Glossop. Macmillan Cancer Support is
funding the project for three years and it is being delivered in partnership with "The Christie".Alice Munby is the Macmillan Community Project Officer for Manchester and wants people to volunteer in the areas of Northenden, Chorlton Park and Old Moat first. Alice is keen to recruit people who are from these areas and from across the city of Manchester. The team want
volunteers to provide brief and simple awareness messages (5 minute conversations) about cancer and encourage people to visit their GP if they notice any changes to their body.
Volunteers can take part in community outreach work, such as attending events and leafleting. They can also have the opportunity to get involved in longer, interactive sessions in the future, if they want to.Volunteers do not need to be experts in cancer. They will be provided with an induction,
accredited training from "The Christie" and Macmillan Cancer Support and ongoing support. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, improve your CV and make a difference to your community and people affected by cancer. This Opportunity is now closed for applications.
