RespondMike, I've heard nothing back from this. I let Mark know a few weeks ago and he said that he would give them a nudge. Now I'm actually thinking of volunteering for the Squash Tournament instead that weekend (18/19 Sep).

Tatton Park Triathlon 2010
Dear Mike
Thank you for volunteering for the Tatton Park Triathlon. We are now writing to you to give you general information about the event.
What is Tatton Park?
Tatton Park is an award winning National Trust stately home set in 1,000 acres of beautiful parkland. It is on the edge of Manchester and is minutes away from junction 7 of the M56 and junction 19 of the M6. The venue has many attractions including display gardens, working farms, cafes, children’s play area and of course the stately home all open to the public after the race (charges will apply for certain attractions)
Where is Tatton Park, how do I get there and where can I park?
The address of the venue is Tatton Park, Ashley Road, Knutsford, Cheshire WA16 6QN. If you are coming by car you will have free entrance to the park and we provide dedicated parking. Entrance is through the Rostherne Gate on Ashley Road only. Free entrance on both days is provided by the car window parking pass enclosed . Please ensure you display it so as the attendants at the Rostherne Gate can see it clearly. Details of race day parking are also enclosed.
I need transport
If you need transport to the venue please contact us if we have not already contacted you. We are putting on transport from the centre of Manchester from the rear of Central Library facing the Friends Meeting House and Starbucks. We will discuss with you further details of our volunteer collections.
What is a triathlon?
Triathlon is an endurance sport that involves a swim, followed by a bike and finishes with a run. It is the fastest growing Olympic sport in the world. At the end of the swim and bike the competitor will return to a fenced off area called transition where they change from swim gear to bike gear and then bike gear to run gear.
What does a triathlon Marshall do?
Marshall's have various responsibilities depending upon whether you are on the swim, bike or run section. Marshall's are there to help competitors complete the correct route and ensure spectators/on lookers do not wander onto the course. You will be briefed on the morning of the race. Triathlon is a great spectacle and for those of you marshalling for the first time it will be a very interesting day.

RespondThere will be following teams of volunteers:-
Registration:- this is the busiest section, registration all the athletes in for the two day event. This is Run by Sue and she will be in contact with you over the next week or so.
Registration covers a multitude of jobs, so be ready.
Transition
This is the helm of the event, this section will see the athletes more than any other section.
They start from transition and they finish up there as well on 6 occasions and like registrations this is a busy area. This section is run by Keith and a team of Referees from the British Triathlon Association.
They get changed for the swim, go and swim, run from the water to the transition area, get changed for the bike ride, do the bike ride, come back to transition and then go out on the run section returning after finishing the run.
Swim Marshall's
As it says, you will be helping with the swim though this is mainly covered by Dave Q and his team. They are very experienced in this field of the event.
Bike Section
Well, with three different races on over the weekend, the bike marshall's will be busy all in a2 hour period but will need to be in position quite early.
This job is not the faint hearted and you must be able bodies and able to stand for long periods of time and also you are no-where near the facilities of Tatton Park.
This Section is run by Geoff,(Bike Director Perry (Assistant Bike Director), Richard(internal of Tatton Park) and Mike (external of Tatton Park).
Run Section
This run by Malcolm, over a 5 K course on the internal site of Tatton Park. Marshall's will be there for health & safety and for encouraging the runners to complete the course.
Chip Collection
This section will be run by Karen.
As it says, as the athletes finish, you will collect the chips in from the athletes. All chips will be fasten to their ankles.
Bike and Run Marshall's, it is advisable to bring a flask with you just in case, also a packed lunch will be provided. Also the organisers will be providing food after the event.
When I get a chance I will get a copy of the expenses form and your car park pass put up on here for your reference. I am not sure if this can be done, but I am sure Chris will let me know!Mark Pritchard

RespondHi Mike
Thanks for popping this information up about the Trialthlon.
It would be great if you could push the organisers in the right direction. Kristian and I have been making contact asking for contact to be made for a while and even now some people seem to be missing out on receiving the information.
We haven't been giving out e-mail addresses over the past while so that everyone, including people who don't have internet access, can receive their information by post.
We ask that, even if organisers make phone calls to volunteers, that they back it up with a letter, detailing everything that you need to know.
If anyone hasn't had information yet let me know on 0161 234 1530 or mp@mev.org.uk and we will chase it up for you.
Alternatively, if you know of other volunteers who are taking part, don't have internet access and haven't yet heard anything, please pass the information above on to them.
Best Wishes

RespondHi Mike,
I've now had contact about this event and I've returned the attendance/travel spreadsheet to the organisers.
I don't know what I'll actually be doing, but there is a briefing on the first morning...which unfortunately starts with a very early laid-on bus from the city centre, so I may see a few of you falling asleep on the bus out there.

RespondCan I thank everyone who attended this event.
I apologise for any problems that were caused to you.
Once again it proved that the volunteers from Manchester Event Volunteers came on top of providing top information and help to an event.
I would like to ask if there is any comments or improvements you would like to see for next year, as I have to put in my report by the end of the month.
At the present time, I do not think I shall do the event next year and that is for personal reasons than anything do with M.E.V.
Once again, My Thanks to you all!
