Car Sharing

Many of you have asked us about the possibility of setting up a car sharing facility for volunteers travelling to events. We have recently found a car sharing website which has been set up and is sponsored by the 10 Greater Manchester councils.

You can register for free, input your travel details in confidence and find out anyone is undertaking the same journey. If you are interested, why not register your details on-line at www.carsharegm.com

However, we do ask that you read the personal safety information on the website before you register. This information states:

  • Avoid exchanging home addresses with your travelling companion before you meet them.
  • Arrange to meet in a public place.
  • Inform a friend or family member who you will be travelling with, when and to where.
  • Make sure you show each other your I.D.s - passports, student cards or driving licences - so you know you're travelling with the right person.
  • You are under no obligation to go ahead with any liftshare. If you have any doubts about your travelling companion, for any reason, you should avoid travelling with them.
  • If you have any problems please call the car share team immediately on 01953 451 166 and they will endeavour to help in any way they can.
